Japanese 303
Course Description: This course develops functional use of Japanese language for various types of situations and events that occur in the daily business environment. The types of situations include formal introductions, basic business rules, business etiquette, honorifics, and how to write business documents and email. It also presents and expands on cultural perspectives and concepts as they impact the business world. Taught in Japanese.
Reflective Narrative: This course was the first language based course I took after returning from studying abroad in Japan and it was extremely helpful. While I was in Japan there were certain situations were I didn't understand the proper context in a professional setting and came off rude. While in Japan I learned a lot of casual language and I used it with my friends, however sometimes I would forget that I was mainly using casual speech and use it in the wrong environment. I learned the differences in classes of speech and I learned proper behaviors for formal situations.
